A senior energy and climate risk management professional, and head of Energetics’ team of consultants in Western Australia, Joel leads the business’ engagement with Australia’s mining, oil and gas, and energy infrastructure sectors. With nearly 20 years’ experience advising ASX200, Joel understands how climate change and the decarbonisation of economies, both domestically and across major trading partners, is creating both risks and opportunities for Australian mining.
Joel has supported some of Australia’s largest emitters with net zero transition strategies, climate risk and resilience assessments, and the transition to clean energy: from the purchase of renewable energy via long term supply deals, to onsite renewables, fuel switching and energy efficiency measures. He also develops risk managed approaches to offset procurement, and provides insights and advice for robust climate risk disclosures – a growing issue with the Federal Government’s introduction from 2025 of mandatory climate-related financial reporting. A topic on which Joel spoke at the 2024 AusIMM Critical Minerals Conference and the 2024 Australian Battery Minerals and Supply Chain Conference.
