Energetics is made up of unique and diverse individuals who bring their experiences, insights and passion to the work we do. We’re committed to creating and maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace that encourages everyone to be their authentic selves.
Building a welcoming workplace where everyone belongs
We pride ourselves on providing a level playing field, where every member of our team has the chance to excel, regardless of age, gender, cultural background, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, family structure or any other characteristic. The initiatives below are just some of the ways we’re supporting our team and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued.
Promoting and improving gender equality
Energetics ensures a balanced proportion of female and male employees, championed by our female CEO and chartered chemical engineer, Dr Mary Stewart. We’re proud to report our progress and initiatives annually to the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) to ensure we’re maintaining equality. Last financial year, 55% of our people were women.
LGBTQIA+ inclusion
Energetics is a proud member of Pride in Diversity, Australia’s first and only not-for-profit employer program specifically designed to support employers in the creation of a truly inclusive workplace for employees of diverse sexuality and gender. We have a number of initiatives in place such as, the inclusion of pronouns in email signatures/business cards, gender affirmation leave provisions, a private LGBTQIA+ networking group, and ally training open to all staff (run by Pride in Diversity).
Evolving our progressive leave offerings
A diverse workforce brings a rich mixture of beliefs and traditions. In recognition of this we have introduced the ability for all members of our team to swap up to any two public holidays per year that align their individual values, beliefs, or celebration calendar.
If a member of our team chooses to start a family, we support them, and work on a personalised leave solution. In addition to the Government’s Parental Leave Pay, we offer an additional 14 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of primary or secondary carer status), which is also available for employees who choose to adopt.
Other policies that have been adapted to further support our staff include, extending our bereavement leave policy to include pets as well as family, offering gender affirmation leave, providing recovery leave on the occasion you’ve worked overtime on a project, and providing the opportunity to reconnect with loved ones and work while visiting family and friends overseas.
Embracing hybrid working
At Energetics, we know our people are happiest when they have balance. All employees are provided with the equipment to work from anywhere, and our flexible work policy allows for changes to start and finish times, spreading part-time hours across the week, and more. We want our people to be more rested, present in their personal lives, and engaged and productive in their professional work.
We’re committed to working together with our people individually to design a tailored arrangement that supports their lifestyle and personal commitments, while balancing in-person collaboration and teamwork.
