Patrick has over 25 years of experience in the mining and energy sectors, with a deep specialisation in the identification, development, and execution of investments in energy generation and decarbonisation solutions. A key member of Energetics’ Energy and Carbon Markets team, he brings a unique blend of operational, technical, and commercial expertise to assist some of Australia’s largest energy users and ASX200 companies in achieving their long-term energy and decarbonisation strategies. He has a strong understanding of electricity and gas market fundamentals, complemented by high technical capability in all facets of contemporary engineering and project management. Patrick has a proven track record of delivering commercial frameworks, risk management, and governance techniques necessary for safe, sustainable, and successful operations and projects. His experience spans market due diligence, business evaluation, policy impact analysis, and quantitative modelling of supply and demand to provide strategic insights and investment advice for clients.
In prior roles with BHP, Patrick managed energy portfolios exceeding 500 GWh annually and led the world’s first commercial demonstration of mine ventilation air methane abatement (WestVAMP). He represented BHP at the Energy Users Association of Australia (EUAA) and the Australian Coal Association Research Program (ACARP).
Patrick’s recent engagements include providing technical and commercial due diligence for renewable energy projects, progressive procurement of electricity and gas for large energy users across multiple sectors, and using advanced geospatial and data analysis techniques to identify optimal locations for renewable energy generation and storage assets.
