Matty was one of PwC Australia’s most experienced financial services and ESG audit partners prior to his retirement in 2023. During Matty’s 23 years as a partner in Sydney he signed some of Australia’s largest listed and international companies, including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Australia’s largest bank, the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), and 3 of the largest listed Real Estate Investment Trusts (Dexus, Mirvac and GPT).
He also led a number of outsourced internal audits, including as the lead partner of the full outsourced internal audit function for the APA pipeline group in Australia.
For 9 years from 2007 to 2016 Matty sat on the PwC Australia Assurance Leadership team and held roles as the Financial Services Assurance National Business Unit Leader, the Risk Assurance Leader and the Resources Services and Government Sector Leader. Matty also led the Risk Assurance practice for the AsiaPac region from 2010 to 2012. The Risk Assurance practice within PwC included the internal audit service line and the IT audit capabilities supporting both internal and external audit.
